Is That Your Final Answer?: Quality Assurance
Internal Testing
Members of the CLASS™ course development and production teams
tested the courses for accuracy of content, layout, and functionality.
- Once the CLASS™ development teams had written, proofed,
and edited a unit of a course, the resulting "script" was
submitted to Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET) for production.
- As
each unit was completed, NET placed it on the development server
for team review.
- Members of the course development team reviewed the
online version for accuracy of content (including glossary pop-up
windows, and graphics),
assessments (including feedback), documentation, page layout, and
functionality (including navigation and links).
- Team reviewers printed the pages
that contained errors. They made corrections on these pages, with
clear instructions as to how the changes should
be made, and delivered them to NET.
- Once the changes were complete,
the development team reviewed the course in its entirety and followed
the same procedure for any errors found.
- When NET completed the corrections
process, a CD was created for more testing.
- The team did another ‘click-through’ of
the course from CD to certify that pages were linked and all content
was included.
- The course was then offered to the Independent Study
High School and class.com for external testing.
External Testing
CLASS™ also consulted several external testers in various capacities
throughout the development and testing processes. Some of these included:
-
The Independent Study High School (ISHS). The teachers played a significant
role throughout the content development and production stages. The relevant
teachers were provided a copy of the script, and invited to attend team
meetings.
- NET personnel reviewed the content, design, and functionality
as the courses went through the production process.
- Outside editors,
reviewers, and/or consultants checked the courses at specific stages
of development and production.
- All ‘Proposals’ and ‘Prospectuses’ and
some of the course scripts were sent to the Nebraska Department of
Education
for review.
