Exploring Earth's System
As you are nearing this planet (Earth), you see it for the first time from space. It appears to be covered primarily with a liquid. Since your species requires a liquid environment, focus your attention on those parts of the planet.
This liquid environment is your assignment. For your first research report, Your List, explore the liquid environment and identify as many parts of the environment as you possibly can. Be certain to use all of your senses as you explore. You might be able to feel or hear aspects of the environment that you can not see. Follow the directions to begin Your List in your notebook. To begin your exploration, click on the play button. You may watch it as many times as you like. As you watch the video, remember that you are exploring this environment to determine whether or not it will support your species. To record your observations, open your Notebook.
As you watch the video, make careful observations. List in your Notebook as many components of the environment as you can observe. Take your time on the video. Feel free to pause, forward or reverse it. You may or may not know names for what you see. This is not important. Simply record a general word or phrase to describe what you see. Submit your list of observations to the Director. Follow the mailing directions at the bottom of the page when submitting your assignment. This will telecommunicate your report to the director.
