All for One and One for All: Development Teams
The CLASS™ Project established course development teams at
the beginning of each course development process. These teams consisted
of individuals from six general categories:
- CLASS™ content development team, consisting of an
Instruction Design Specialist (IDS), who led the overall content
acquisition, design, and production of the course, and one or
more other Instructional Designers;
- content providers, who wrote
the content for the course;
- additional content specialists hired
to review materials and consult with the CLASS™ course development
team;
- a production team from Nebraska Educational Telecommunications
(NET) that was responsible for preparing the course script
for web delivery;
- advisors from the Nebraska Department of Education, who
reviewed the course proposal and prospectus;
- individuals, who
tested the course for functionality and possible errors in content,
structure, layout, or documentation.
The concept of the course development teams continued
throughout the CLASS™ Project, but the manner in which
the team operated changed. The process often varied because of
differences in the management styles of the lead IDS and the
interrelationships among the team members.
