Independent Study High School
The Independent Study High School (ISHS) within the
Extended Education (previously Division of Continuing Studies) at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln:
- Is the oldest University-based, fully accredited independent study high school in the United States.
- Has been in operation since 1929.
- Is accredited by both the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Nebraska Department of Education.
- At the time of CLASS™ the ISHS
- served more 15,000 enrollments annually in all 50 states and 136 countries.
- offered 138 print-based courses in addition to CLASS™.
- Registered students throughout the year in open enrollment.
- Has an administrative staff with part-time teachers today, but at the time of CLASS™ had a full staff of certificated teachers, academic advisors and a principal.
