Overview of CLASS™The University of Nebraska-Lincoln was the recipient of federal funding for a project entitled CLASS™ (Communications, Learning and Assessment in a Student-centered System). CLASS™ was a dynamic, student-centered learning environment delivered via the World Wide Web. Using innovative technology, the CLASS™ Project maximizes student learning through the use of moving imagery, graphics, sound, and text within a seamless navigational system that encourages individualizes learning and discovery.
CLASS™ has created and developed 53 Web-enabled high school courses. The courses accommodate a variety of learning styles to the extent possible in this electronic environment. Founded in constructivist theory, the courses utilize interactive designs and student-centered learning activities to facilitate student exploration and discovery. The seamless design enables ongoing self-checks, evaluation and assessment, which empowers students to interact with the courses in sequences or patterns that match his or her own learning style. Content is written specifically for the Web, scaffolded for broader and deeper experiences within the subject matter, and designed so that the student has choices of direction and activity. Many wonderful people developed these courses, please
take a look around our Website to learn more about CLASS™. A
considerable amount of information is provided in this site -- much of
which is text, some is designed with examples. It was difficult to
select tidbits of information that might be of some use to others, but
hopefully each visitor will find something of interest. Copyright 2004 - University of Nebraska Board of Regents - All Rights Reserved |
